Kazuo Matsuura

Ehime University
Associate Professor

Dr Kazuo Matsuura is an associate professor at the department of mechanical engineering at the graduate school of science and engineering, Ehime University, Matsuyama, Japan. He obtained his PhD in 2005 from the University of Tokyo (Japan) in thermo-fluid flows. He worked at NASA-Ames Research Center (USA) and Stanford University Center for Turbulence Research (USA) as a postdoctoral fellow in 2008. His research interest lies in turbulence theory, vortex dynamics, stability theory, and turbulence computation such as LES and DNS for high-speed flows. Regarding LES/DNS, he has experience of over 20 years. He has published about 130 papers in refereed journals and conferences at various international/national levels including Journal of Fluid Mechanics, Physical Review Fluids, AIAA Journal, and International Journal of Hydrogen Energy. At Ehime University, he has been teaching thermodynamics, computer simulation, and mathematical modeling for the past 11 years.

In this conference, he will talk about the latest progress in coupling his theory on the hierarchical clustering of volumetric vortical regions with Liutex and application to compressible transitional-turbulent boundary layers and aeroacoustics.
